For the English teachers the suggestions are: (1) giving more attention toward the students while conducting the games, (2) managing the time better by coming on time and making better preparation, (3) giving clear instruction to the students by writing it on a piece of paper about the rules of games and how the teacher assess them, (4) making a good lesson plan so that the teaching and learning process can be done in order. There were some suggestions given by the researcher and they were intended to the English teachers and to the other researchers in the last chapter of the thesis. The findings showed that (1) there were several games used by the teacher (There were five games which were observed, they were “Jeopardy”, “Spell Your Word”, “Guess the Word”, “Chain Writing”, and “Rolling Box”) which intended to deliver the material, to give assessment, and to revise the material that had been taught, (2) there were several problems faced by the teacher while conducting the games in teaching and learning process included time management, place, lacked motivated students, finding of suited material, and assessment (3) the result of questionnaire given almost all of the students gave positive responses toward the use of games in teaching English since it provided the students opportunity to improve their abilities. The setting of the study was at SMAN 2 Pare and the subjects of this study were three English teachers, four classes of students of grade X and XI of SMAN 2 Pare. In analyzing the data the researcher used three processes namely data reduction, data display, and data interpretation. The data were obtained through some instruments, namely interview guide, observations, and questionnaire. This study employed a descriptive-qualitative design specifically case study. They are (1) kinds of games used and the implementation (2) the problems faced in using games in teaching English including the four skills which are listening, speaking, reading, and writing (3) and the students’ opinions toward the use of games in teaching the four skills in English.

This study is undertaken to describe the use of games in teaching at SMAN 2 Pare. Therefore the study on the use of games in teaching English is worth conducting. Teachers need to take up the challenges by having permanent recourse to enhance students’ desire in learning the language for example by using games as an effective way. Therefore it is clear that a constant effort is required. Teaching English as a foreign language is a hard task since students practically do not use it every day.
